Renovations can be fun, exciting, and also a bit overwhelming. Right? There is endless inspiration for what’s trending right now, think cloud couch, funky cabinet colors in your kitchen, and mosaic tile floors.
This post is all about timeless home decor and how to design a space that will never go out of style!
The trends are cute and fun but in the next 10 years are you going to still love that cottage core kitchen? If so, more power to you! If you’re looking to keep your spaces timeless with a sprinkle of trendy items, look no further!
This blog post will share some of my favorite timeless home decor and how to still incorporate trendy pieces into your space!
Classic Sofas That Will Always Be Beautiful
Living room furniture can be expensive and following the ever-changing trends can be a bit too much for any budget. When adding a large piece to your space, like a sofa, you want to make sure it will fit your current style but easily grow with you.
White, skirted couches have and always will be a simple yet beautiful addition to your living room. Another classic sofa look is a brown leather chesterfield sofa. This piece would seamlessly fit into living rooms 20 years ago, 10 years ago, and now.
Here Are Some Of My Favorite Classic Sofas:
Another classic style is the Chesterfield sofa. The signature look has deeply tufted buttons and high arms. A classic is a dark brown leather chesterfield and I highly recommend it in the category of timeless home decor! Whether you are furnishing a masculine office or a traditional living room, a chesterfield will never feel outdated.
Kitchen Design That Won’t Look Dated
Don’t shoot the messenger… but a timeless kitchen is not going to have exciting pops of color and eye-catching new trends. If you’re really striving for a kitchen that will stand the test of time, you’ll want to use whites and chromes.
White cabinets are classic. Many people will claim the “all-white” kitchen is going out of style, but I protest this argument because white cabinets do not make a kitchen “all-white.”
Although I absolutely LOVE gold hardware and definitely enjoy black accents, the truth is that chrome is the cleanest and most time enduring finish to choose for your metal accents.
Don’t worry, I’ve got a few ways to incorporate the more ‘on trend’ items that can easily add a bit of spice to your kitchen. Add a colorful rug or window treatment to the space to add color and texture. Choose a trendy or funky light fixture over your island that can easily be changed in a couple of years (and for a lot less than a whole reno, ya feel me?).
Bathroom Finishes That Are Designed To Last
There are two ways you can make a bathroom really stand the test of time and never go out of fashion.
The first option is going to remind you a bit of the kitchen design I talked about before, with lots of white and marble throughout. Stick to choosing white cabinets, chrome hardware, and marble or white subway tiles. Marble penny tile flooring ages well and will continue to be beautiful throughout various design trends. If you so desire, you can add in the trendier touches with shower curtains, rugs, etc.
Another look that will always stay in design rotation is an ode to a vintage black and white bathroom. Get this look by using vintage appropriate touches like pedestal sinks, black and white rosette tile and, subway tile. This look would be particularly perfect if you are restoring a historic home or have a vintage house because it will feel time appropriate yet clean and new.
PS: HUGE bonus points if you have a clawfoot tub in either bathroom design!
PPS: White bathroom linens are the way to go! They are always in style, you can bleach them if they get dirty and, your retinol won’t stain them!
These are my favorite tips on timeless home decor when designing your kitchen and bathroom and even selecting a sofa!
