Figure Out Your Why
I used to think that the guru term “figuring out your Why,” felt very heavy and there was a lot of pressure around it because it sounded like I needed to figure out why am on this earth. However I have recently come to realize that it can simply mean figuring out why you need this in your life. So for this example, “figuring out your Why“ truly means figuring out why you need a morning routine. What is it going to provide you in your life? What is it going to help you with in your life?
If you are an entrepreneur the “why” behind your morning routine could be energy or it could be to free up brain space. If you are an active mother, your “why” could be to mentally prepare for a day at home with you kids.
My “why“ is to energize me for the day and for my mental health/anxiety. I have found that a healthy morning routine has provided me with the energy to get through my entire day and it has helped me deal with anxiety and stressors at work.
Your first step is examining why you need a morning routine and writing that down.
Ideate! Work Backwards From What You Need

Step two in finding the perfect morning routine that you will stick to, is to work backwards from what you need and start brainstorming what can get you there. It is truly as simple as brainstorming.
So, if you need energy, what sort of activities energize you? For me high intensity workouts energize me, but for you that could be draining. For you yoga or meditation could energize you. Know thyself!
Go back to your “why” or multiple “whys” and create a list under each of them of various activities that could bring you to that end result.
Trial and Error
Now that you have a list of morning routine activities, you will put them together in a few different groupings and try them out! It is truly as simple as trying different routines and seeing what works for you. Of course, start with what instinctually feels like it will work the best for you. If that doesn’t work try something new.
It is imperative that you enjoy your morning routine or you will not stick to it, I can promise you that! Do not try to force yourself to do activities you don’t enjoy. I have tried to make myself a person I’m not and work towards goals or results that I don’t truly want in my soul. I never stuck to those activities because it wasn’t aligned with me. Even the little things, if the personal development book I was reading didn’t resonate with me, I was never going to make the time to read it. Really get in touch with your inner voice and ensure that your goals are aligned with what your vision for your life is.
My Energizing Morning Routine:
When it came to organizing my own personal morning routine I found a routine that works for me every day which I consider to be my bare minimum. I also have variables that I can add into my morning routine based upon if I have extra time or I can feel that I need something else in my life that day.

Have fun making your morning routine!
