Decorating your home can be an expensive and daunting venture, especially when you are on a budget. Over the years I have tried many DIY projects, inexpensive hacks and budget shopped till I dropped. To save you from having to do all of this, I have curated 5 insanely cute cheap home decor ideas for you to learn from my many years of trial and error.
This post is all about Cute Cheap Home Decor Ideas.
DIY Art
You can find already framed art anywhere from Homegoods, to Goodwill, to your back alley (see video below where I found art in my alley for free!). By taking an existing piece of art that is already framed, you can easily upcycle the canvas and frame to DIY your own art project.
The huge piece of art you see above my desk only cost me $13 for the supplies!
Check out Pinterest for tons of inspiration on what types of art to DIY on your upcycled canvas. You can go abstract and textured as I did, or you can lean into geometry or glitter. The possibilities are endless, and it is a project you will be so proud you did yourself!

Textured Lamps & Vases

Paint + baking soda = texture! This trick can be used on anything from dollar store vases to lamps. Above you see a lamp I purchased for $3! All I did was slowly mix baking soda into white acrylic paint I already owned. Mix the baking soda in slowly so you can create your desired level of texture.
Bonus points because this project was so easy that my 3-year-old nephew was able to help out!
Upcycle Existing Furniture
Most people already own furniture pieces that they aren’t thrilled with. This is the perfect opportunity to upcycle your furniture into something you will love! Above you see a vintage nightstand I found at Goodwill for less than $20. Some elbow grease, a couple of coats of paint, new hardware, and a fun geometric drawer lining, made this piece a stunner!
If you don’t own furniture you want to upcycle, thrift stores are your best friend for inexpensive furniture projects!
Recycle Cute Used Candles
We spend time and money picking out delicious-smelling candles that look good in our homes! It is a tragedy to just through away (or hopefully recycle) the containers when we finish burning a candle. Instead, try recycling the container and reusing it as decor in your home.
Here is a SUPER easy trick to clean out used candles:
Here are some of my favorite candles with holders I would LOVE to recycle as decor:
Dollar Tree Candle Hurricane
When it comes to cheap things, we all know the Dollar Store is as cheap as it gets! So, when you can DIY cute cheap home decor from the dollar store, you have hit the jackpot. Check out how you can use just $2 to create an elegant candle hurricane for any tablescape!
